STARRINGCAMP

At our starringSMU’s Freshmen Orientation Camp, we welcome our freshmen with a fun-filled two-day camp. Introducing freshmen to the SMU campus and giving freshmen and facilitators a wholly novel and enjoyable experience.

ABOUT US

Established since 2007, starringSMU is the largest community service project held for freshmen joining our institution each year. Presently in its seventh consecutive year, starringSMU’s projects have impacted more than 5,000 people in the community over the course of three years. The intent of starringSMU is to nurture a culture of caring and bonding in society through the execution of its community service projects.

    Do not be mistaken, this is no ordinary camp. starringCAMP, managing to intertwine fun and community service into one explosive event, will allow our participants to build bonds through the games they will play, as well as through the opportunities that they will be presented with to give back to the community. Come join us and get set to view community service in a completely different light.

    Be reminded of life’s simple pleasures. starringGIVESBACK will allow participants to work with our chosen beneficiaries – Kids for Kids, The Salvation Army, Surya Home as well as All Sanits Home. It is not everyday that the youths of today get engaged in such activities hence we are proud to present to you this amazing opportunity that will allow you to not just build bonds but also to bring joy to both children and the elderly.

    Want to be part of the pioneering team that brings an Indie Food Festival to Singapore? WELL, what are you waiting for? JOIN US! StarringBISTRO’13, the first of its kind in 7 years. An indie food festival, where all the hidden food gems are gathered in one central location. Through this event, we aim to raise funds for our beneficiaries as well as to create a a platform for local restaurants and cafes to give back to society.

    Foam, water dunking, sun, beautiful cars purring into the carparks all ready for us… What’s there not to love! starringCARWASH is starringSMU’s signature event. Participants will not just have fun, but more importantly, this event sets to showcase to the public how charity work can most definitely be fun! We intend to inculcate the spirit of volunteerism through raising funds by washing cars at Buona Vista and Holland Village’s carparks. Be prepared for 2 full days of intense fun guys!

  • MY BUONA VISTA PLACE

    My Buona Vista Place was set up in 2008 as a one-stop centre for community interaction and social welfare programmes. It organises activities to encourage active ageing and community bonding. These activities include playing of rummy-o which helps to stimulate thinking and prevents dementia and weekly line dance sessions to encourage healthy lifestyle.

    Apart from the regular social activities, the centre also helps to be an information point for those seeking and providing social assistance. During the disbursement of public transport last year, my Buona Vista Place assisted in communicating the message to the needy and was also one of the points of contact for information and collation of forms.

    Trainings and talks were also conducted at the centre to equip residents with basic skills and knowledge. know more

  • KITS FOR KIDS

    The Kits4Kids Foundation is dedicated to providing for children and youth with special needs. Kits4Kids Foundation believes that every child is exceptional and can learn uniquely and this shows in the opportunities made available to them through its various schools and establishments.

    Kits4Kids's social agenda is focused on special education and human development in various social areas. It is mandated to play an active role in supporting the implementation of social services which include promoting access to mainstream education opportunities for disadvantaged groups. Kits4Kids also promotes global awareness through higher education and youth exchange activities. These programmes are conducted with the aim of facilitating greater awareness among youths while creating a vision of a cohesive and caring community. know more

  • SUNLOVE HOME

    Sunlove Home is one of the few charitable Homes in Singapore that provide for patients ranging from 22 to 75 years old. The social stigma surrounding the intellectually-infirmed has caused problems for families who want to care for their loved ones.

    The Home offers compassionate help in rehabilitative programs, which include daily supervision to psychotherapy, occupational, physiotherapy and medical treatment. The objective of this half-way house is to ultimately reintegrate the patients back to their homes and society, restore hope to the individual, and to build their self-esteem and self-worth. know more

  • SALVATION ARMY

    Salvation Army aims to provide education for children from the lower income families. It focuses on the need to assist parents in the educational and social development of their child. The Salvation Army Child Care Centres’ programmes are also carefully designed and planned to maximise a child's full potential. know more
