starringSMU'11 Supernova Camp
Event Dates: 9th (Saturday) & 10th (Sunday) July 2011
At Supernova, starringSMU’s Freshmen Orientation Camp, we will welcome our freshmen with a fun-filled two-day camp. Introducing freshmen to the SMU campus and culture will take place alongside the engendering of our mindset that ‘giving back is fun’, giving freshmen and facilitators a wholly novel and enjoyable experience.
Run a gauntlet of activities and have a bomb of a time. The bonds we will be building and the games we have been planning will help to foster the right culture and attitude for the rest of our events – caring and sharing with tonnes of fun!
In these two days, starringSMU'11 will explore the central areas of Singapore and formally acquaint freshmen with the campus grounds through games designed to build lasting memories and lasting bonds. Bring water, yourself and an open heart and prepare to have a blast of a time!
starringSMU'11 Car Foam Party
Event Dates: 16th (Saturday) & 17th (Sunday) July 2011
The Car Foam Party has always been starringSMU’s signature event. Incorporating the ‘jolly’ factor into community service, the Car Foam Party defies traditional notions of community service and aims to spread the SMU spirit and youths’ vivacity.
The main beneficiary for this event, merited through the raising of funds would be the resident of ‘My Buona Vista Place’; a one-stop centre for social welfare programmes reaching out to over 20,000 residents in the estate.
The youthful participants of starringSMU will raise funds through the sale of tickets and the subsequent fun-filled car washing at Holland Village’s car parks, which serves as a great opportune for the public to attain gratification by doing their part for the community whilst experiencing the SMU spirit of fun and share.
This year’s event includes an attempt to break the Singapore Books of Record for the "Most amount of funds raised from a Car Wash”, as well as the “Most Cars Washed in 24 hours” through the combined efforts of the students and the public.
starringSMU'11 SMU Gives Back
Event Dates: 19th (Tuesday), 21st (Thursday) & 26th (Tuesday) July 2011
SMU Gives Back is a project that aims to show gratitude to the people of Singapore and instill the virtue of giving back to society in incoming batches of SMU freshmen.
This year, starringSMU has lined up various community service activities for the benefit of both our beneficiaries and the freshmen such as excursions, house-visits and partnership activities.
By providing the freshmen with the platform for direct interaction with the marginalized, challenged or less fortunate, starringSMU hopes to inspire SMU undergraduates, to better relate to the community different ways of life and understand the hardships of others.
starringSMU'11 Finale
Event Dates: 30th (Saturday) July 2011
This will be a finale starringSMU’s signature event. It aims to promote the value of serving the community with a passionate attitude. This event will mark not only as a milestone for starringSMU but also the start of many opportunities of collaborations between the Holland-Bukit Timah GRC and our beneficiaries.
